When The Fast and the Furious hit theaters back in 2001, no one could have anticipated that the street-racing action flick would spawn an entire franchise of over-the-top action films. With the recently released seventh film breaking all sorts of box-office records, the series has no intention of slowing down. As fans of the franchise, we manually compiled this data (and had a lot of fun doing it). Play with the visualization to the right and check out the graphs below!
The first two films stuck to the west and southeast coasts of America, but beginning with The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006) the series began to think globally. From that point forward, the films hit exotic locations, such as Mexico and Brazil, then crossed the sea to London and Spain. Most recently, Toretto, O'Conner, and team traveled to Azerbaijan and Abu Dhabi in Furious 7. Series star Vin Diesel has hinted that Fast and Furious 8 could bring the team to NYC and maybe even Egypt.
With all these exciting locations, combined with some of the most outrageous car stunts ever brought to the big screen, one has to wonder how many damaged and obliterated vehicles this series has left in its wake. Here, you can see the various locations the team has visited and how many vehicles have suffered as a direct result of their exploits. Even if you've seen the destruction in the movies, the total numbers still may shock you.
