The 2014 FIFA World Cup kicks off in Rio on June 12th. And with it, the hopes of entire countries are put on the backs of their nation’s starting XI; for a brief moment the only thing that matters is football. With this year’s World Cup, Wallaroo Media has decided to extend our annual Social Media Bracket challenge that accompanies March Madness to the world stage.

The winner of each matchup was decided by our own personal algorithm that takes into play each national football squad’s collective social media presence on both Facebook & Twitter. Tiebreakers were decided by the current FIFA rankings (current as of 30 May 2014).
