Why Instagram is the Future of the Mobile Web
Instagram is the present, especially for consumer-facing brands. We all know this. It just surpassed 1 Billion users.
Not only is Instagram the present, and the most popular/hottest social app, but it’s also the future of the mobile web.
Dom Hofmann, the founder of Vine, shared a tweetstorm to this point over the weekend. Check it out below for his thoughts on Instagram:
instagram is probably the single most important consumer service to watch in the west. it’s basically a full blown mobile web:

and more. what’s even more surprising is how easy it is to imagine things that are “missing” fitting into IG: — dom hofmann (@dhof) June 24, 2018
communities (e.g. reddit)

and way more. and fb has toyed around with a lot of this is in the past, so there is presumably infrastructure and other learning in place that could help IG build this stuff more easily.

on top of that, IG has been really good and incorporating new functionality tastefully. it’s honestly surprising how simple it is to interact with, given how much it does. — dom hofmann (@dhof) June 24, 2018
and they ship so fast. just as fast as any startup.

tl,dr: if you’re building a consumer service, it’s probably wise to be wary of IG. — dom hofmann (@dhof) June 24, 2018
